Major Community Events
The City of Tonganoxie features a number of major community events. Some of the major community events include the following:
Tonganoxie Days
Tonganoxie Days is an annual summertime event to celebrate all that is Tonganoxie. Typically the second Saturday in June, Tonganoxie Days features music, dancing and arts and crafts booths.
St. Pat's Parade
Tonganoxie goes Green every year to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day. 2013 was the 25year celebration of this annual event. The parade is entirely volunteer run.
County Fair and Parade
The county fair is usually held the last week in July of each year and takes place at the Leavenworth County Fairgrounds.
Come for the live bands, horse draft pull, food, carnival rides, ATV races, demolition derby, and of course the parade!
Spooktacular (Halloween)
Every year on the Friday before Halloween, children and their families can visit Tonganoxie businesses on 4th Street for Halloween treats and some family fun.
Dress up and join in the fun!
Mayor's Christmas Tree Lighting
The Mayor’s Christmas Tree lighting is a free event in downtown Tonganoxie. Visitors can enjoy carolers dressed in traditional garments circa 1900, carriage rides, baked goodies and hot cocoa while watching the Mayor light the 10-foot tree in the downtown pocket park at the corner of 4th and Delaware. This event typically occurs the Saturday before each Thanksgiving in downtown Tonganoxie.
