City Manager

George Brajkovic serves as City Manager and is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the City. He holds a Master of Arts degree in management and leadership from Baker University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology from the University of Kansas. Prior to coming to Tonganoxie in March of 2017, George served as the Director of Economic Development for the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, KS.

How do we get a city manager?
Through a public recruitment process, the city manager is recommended by the mayor and appointed by the city council as the chief executive officer for all municipal operations.

What does a city manager do for the community?
Because the city council members serve on a part-time, volunteer basis, members hire a full-time city manager who is a highly trained professional over all municipal personnel, equipment, and other resources.  Responsibilities also include administering the personnel policy, providing education, offering procedural guidance, and setting the example for customer service to the citizens on a wide range of services.  In Tonganoxie, these include the following list.
