Notice of Sanitary Sewer Project - General vicinity of 24/40 to Church St and Green St between E 1st St and E 4th St

The City of Tonganoxie has contracted with Westland Construction, Inc to complete sanitary sewer improvement services on existing sanitary sewer infrastructure generally located in the mid-block between E 2nd St & E 3rd St and between US HW 24-40 and Church St and along Green St between 1st St and 4th St. A map of the project areas is included as an attachment. 

This project was advanced following the earlier completion of a review of the condition of the existing sanitary sewer main in these locations and a subsequent engineering review which resulted in the delivery of a recommendation for the City to complete a project including point repairs, pipe lining, and pipe bursting/reaming treatment to the sewer main. The work for this project commenced in late September 2025 and is expected to continue for several weeks. 

During the week of October 20, 2025 homeowners possibly impacted by some steps of the work received a paper notification from the contractor outlining the sewer slip-lining work taking place in the areas from Shawnee to Green between 3rd and 4th St and from 4th St to 1st St on Green St. This notice offered advice to homeowners for actions to take from October 22 - October 24 while the work progresses.
