Police Sergeant

The Tonganoxie Police Department is seeking an excellent and professional individual to serve in the position of Police Sergeant. This position is open to both internal and external candidates. The minimum qualifications for this position requires three years of full-time certified law enforcement experience as defined by Kansas Statutes. Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, be able to pass the Department physical fitness test, and be in good standing with State Certification. The chosen applicant will also be required to pass a drug screening and background investigation. The pay range for this position is $20.86 - $28.76 per hour. Volunteer Firefighter

CRITICAL RECRUITMENT INFORMATION

The evaluation of applications is based only on the information submitted by the application deadline.  Therefore, in order to have your application properly considered, you should include all relevant dates, i.e., attendance at educational institutions, date degree(s) conferred, etc.  Further, you should provide detailed descriptions of relevant work experience/dates, including months/years of employment. Failure to submit a completed application may eliminate you from the selection process. Resumes may be filed to determine eligibility, but an official City application must be completed prior to appointment.

For positions requiring college education as part of the minimum requirement and/or an equivalency, the minimum education requirement is high school graduation. The requirement of "high school graduation" also includes the state-issued GED certificate.

Unless otherwise stated, the requirement of "an accredited" degree includes only those degrees obtained from colleges or universities listed with the U. S. Department of Education and recognized by the U. S. Secretary of Education.

Normal work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, unless otherwise specified.

All positions require successful completion of a pre-employment criminal background and references check.  Candidates for positions that operate City vehicles will also have to pass a drivers license background check.
