The Public Works Department coordinates with contracted engineers and planners for construction and maintenance of municipl infrastructure, including streets, roads, sidewalks and traffic control devices.  In addition, PW personnel provide building maintenance and custodial services.

Water supply and wasterwater treatment are also under the management of the public works director.  The City of Tonganoxie offers a complete water services utility to local residents at very competetive rates and quality.
