Electric

Two electric companies provide electric service depending on where your home is located.  If you need assistance determining which company services your area, feel free to contact us.  Westar Energy can be reached at 1-800-383-1183 and Leavenworth Jefferson Electric Cooperative can be contacted at 1-888-796-6111. 

Gas

Kansas Gas Service provides gas service to Tonganoxie and can be contacted at 1-800-794-4780. 

Telephone

Southwestern Bell Telephone provides telephone service to Tonganoxie.  Their phone number is 1-800-464-7928. 

Water, Sewer and Trash

The City of Tonganoxie provides water, sewer and trash services.  If you are a new customer, we require a water service contract and a $30 non-refundable connection fee.  The connection fee can be paid up front with cash, check, money order, or credit card or we can add it to your first bill.  The water service contract is available on this website under the Documents tab and can be faxed to our office at (913)845-9760.

The minimum monthly charge for 0 to 1000 gallons water usage is $46.68.  A family using 3000 gallons per month can expect to have a water bill of $62.58 a month as of August, 2010.

Water -   The utility bills are mailed the first of each month and are due by 4:30 p.m. on the 15th of the month.  After that time/date a 10% penalty will be added to your balance.  Shut off notices are mailed on the next working day following the 15th of every month as a reminder of the unpaid bill. This notice also contains the day your water will be shut off if the bill remains unpaid.

Sewer -  Monthly user charges will be based on average monthly water usage billed during the months of November, December and January. Until a residential contributor has established a November, December and January average, his monthly user charge shall be the median charge of all other residential contributors.

Debt Service - a $9.50 fee is charged monthly to all water customers.  This is the City of Tonganoxie’s bond obligation for water system improvement and water line maintenance.

Trash -  Your trash day depends on where you live. Please refer to the trash information page on this website.  Trash is $15 a month.  You must have your trash to the curb by 7:00 a.m.  During the week that an observed holiday falls, your trash will be picked up one day late.
