Click here for the map to determine what day your trash will be picked up.  The area highlighted in green will be picked up on Tuesday, the area highlighted in blue will be picked up on Wednesday, and the area highlighted in pink will be picked up on Friday.

Trash is $15 a month.  One 95 gallon trash container is provided to your residence by the trash company.  Trash MUST be placed within this container.  Loose trash and trash in a container other than the one provided will not be collected.  If you require an additional container, it can be provided for an additional charge of $3.00 per month.  If you have just one extra bag of trash, a tag for a bag no larger than 33 gallons can be purchased at City Hall for $1.00.  Set the bag out with the bag tag attached at least 3 feet away from your trash container.  You must have your trash to the curb by 7:00 a.m.Leaves and grass must be placed in compostable craft paper bags specifically designed for yard waste. However, hedge and tree trimmings may be bundled provided the bundles are not more than 18 inches in diameter, 4 ft. long and less than 75 lbs. in weight.  The yard waste bags should be placed at least 3 feet from your trash container on your regular trash collection day.

Cart Placement:  Place cart no closer than 3 feet from any obstructions and within 3 feet of the curb. Place cart with arrows facing the street and handle facing your house.  Cart must be out by 7:00 a.m. on your collection day.  Cart must be removed within 24 hours after collection.

Items that will not be picked up: Lumber, carpet, building or remodeling materials, tires, chemicals, oil, paint, rocks, dirt, concrete, animal remains, and appliances containing refrigerant. Commercial or industrial waste or materials of an explosive or toxic nature.

Bulk Item pickup: Bulk collection of larger items, such as household furniture, appliances, bicycles, etc... will be made on the 1st service day of your collection each month. Appliances containing refrigerant must be responsibly evacuated before disposal.  Two bulk items are picked up per residence per month.  Place the bulk items at least 3 feet away from your trash container.  This pickup is not for extra household trash.  If you have an extra trash bag, you can purchase a tag for $1.00 each at City Hall.  The tag can be affixed to one extra bag that is no larger than 33 gallons and it will be picked up on your regular trash day.

During the week that the observed trash holiday falls, your trash pick up day will be one day later.

Recycling:  There are recycling containers for aluminum cans, cardboard and plastics at 230 West St (Triple Creek Realty located off of Highway 24/40 across from the high school).  Recycling of newspapers and magazines are available at Tonganoxie Elementary School.
