Where is Tonganoxie?
Tonganoxie is located in northeastern Kansas on highway US 24-40 approximately 30 miles due west of Kansas City, Mo. We are about 15 miles northeast of Lawrence, KS and 17 miles southwest of Leavenworth, Kansas

How did Tonganoxie get its name?
Tonganoxie is named for a Delaware Indian who referred to himself as Chief Tonganoxie. He ran a stage coach stop and inn in what is now the site of the community of Tonganoxie.
