The Tonganoxie Fire Department has been protecting our city since 1913. Currently the department depends on the services of 24 volunteers and four full-time fire fighter to man their five vehicles. Their equipment includes two Class A pumpers, a Quint ladder truck, a new Quick Attack Unit, a newer Command/Medical Response Unit and state of the art air pack systems.
The Tonganoxie Fire Department has been granted an IOC Class VI rating. We also have mutual aid agreements with 9 nearby city and township departments if we or they ever need more manpower and/or equipment.
