Chieftain Trail Ribbon Cutting Invitation

Mayor Jason K. Ward and the City Council invite citizens of Tonganoxie, Leavenworth County and trail enthusiasts alike to join them for a ribbon cutting ceremony marking the completion of the Chieftain Trail extension.

Phase II of Chieftain Trail begins at Magnatech Park and travels northeast along Tonganoxie Road and south on Laming to Woodfield Drive. The trail extension is nearly 1.3 miles long and connects to another 1.2 miles of existing trails. The new connection provides a scenic path along Tonganoxie Drive, to the Urban Hess area.

Chieftain Trail Phase II will provide important connectivity and safe access from the downtown business district and schools to the neighborhoods north of Hwy 24. The new trail will include a pedestrian bridge over Tonganoxie Creek enhancing the aesthetic of the trail to create a scenic and enjoyable path for trail users.
