Revised Water and Sewer Regulations

Posted by jjones-lacy at Jan 08, 2014 03:05 PM |
On January 6, 2014 the City Council approved revised Water and Sewer regulations amending the section on abandonment.

The Tonganoxie Water and Sewer Regulations explain the service terms of all City utility service customers. On January 6th, the City Council amended the section regarding abandonment of water mains after two years. The former section read as follows:

ABANDONED WATER SERVICE CONNECTIONS:  When water service connections to any premises (residential or commercial) has not been used over a period of not less than two (2) years, the service connections shall be considered abandoned.  In order to re-establish service at any abandoned premises, an amount equivalent to a new water service tap fee will be paid prior to the re-connection.

Effective January 6, 2013, rather than paying a second water tap fee, any service connection to City water that has gone unused for two years will require an inspection and the property owner will be required to pay the inspection fee of $100.
