Posted by jjones-lacy at Jun 13, 2014 04:20 PM |
The resurfacing will last until late July, weather permitting.

The following message is from the Kansas Department of Transportation.

On Friday, June 13, weather permitting, a resurfacing project will begin on a 16.143-mile stretch of K-16 from the U.S. 59 intersection in Jefferson County east to the U.S. 24 junction in Leavenworth County. Project work includes pavement patching followed by the milling away of 1.5-inches of existing pavement followed by a 1.5-inch hot mix asphalt overlay. All new pavement markings will be added following the resurfacing work. Work will take place during daylight hours, Monday through Friday, with some occasional Saturday work.

Beginning on Friday, June 13 through Friday, June 20, crews will first complete pavement patching work on the project, weather permitting. Once the patching work is complete, crews will then begin the mill and overlay work on K-16.

Traffic will be directed through the project work zone via a flagger and pilot car operation. Drivers should expect delays of up to 15 minutes maximum and are encouraged to use alternate routes, if possible. There will be 10.5-foot lane width restriction and a reduced posted speed limit through the project work zone during working hours only throughout the project duration. Drivers should some delays during peak travel times.

The scheduled completion date for the entire project is late July 2014, weather permitting.
