Some residents may experience ongoing power outages until repairs are complete.

At around 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, March 27th high winds caused damage to an electric pole located at US 24-40 and Ridge Street. The electric pole caught fire and caused a grass fire near the Urban Hess Business Park. Firefighters contained the grass fire and the fire to the electric pole. However, the fire caused a power outage in parts of the City. Westar Energy crews are on site working to repair the electric pole and restore power to residents.

The signal at US 24-40 and Main experienced an outage and police are directing traffic as needed. Please use caution when passing through this intersection.
