The City of Tonganoxie has two available employment opportunities at this time.

2020 Full-Time Municipal Court Clerk

The City of Tonganoxie is seeking an energetic individual with exceptional legal, organizational, and customer service skills to join the staff at City Hall as an Administrative Assistant/Municipal Court Clerk. Eligible applicants should have 1-3 years of administrative experience. Experience with Municipal Court functions and working for a local government is preferred. A high school diploma or GED is required. Some level of college education and court clerk training is preferred. Preference will be given to applicants with experience with Incode 10 or Summit/gWorks software applications.

The position is full-time and includes a comprehensive benefits package that includes paid sick, vacation, and personal leave and 10.5 paid holidays per year. The position is paid on an hourly basis and starting pay is anticipated to be $14.91 - $17.47 per hour, depending on qualifications.

The selected individual will be required to work in a fast-paced environment, including, but not limited to, the following responsibilities:

  • Court correspondence and record preservation
  • Tracking, cashiering, and deposit of court fine proceeds (payments)
  • Collection and submittal of fees for the State of Kansas and other entities as required
  • Municipal Court database updates and maintenance
  • Docket management for Court cases
  • Updating license suspensions, bench warrants, and completion of procedures associated with bond deposits, refunds, and applications
  • Working closely with the Municipal Court Judge, City Prosecutor, probation services providers, public defenders, Police Department staff, and other personnel involved in Municipal Court operations

2020 Part-Time Code Enforcement Officer

Under the supervision of the Public Works Director, the Part-Time Code Enforcement Officer is a part-time, non-exempt position. The position is responsible for the enforcement and administration of codes and ordinances of the City that pertain to building and construction, health and welfare, and zoning. The employee will enforce nuisance codes and regulations as adopted by the City of Tonganoxie by maintaining code enforcement records, following up on violations to ensure corrections are made, and issuing citations for violations.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED and a valid Kansas Driver’s license. No previous experience is required, but previous experience in city planning, construction or code enforcement is preferred. View the detailed job description for additional information.

The expecting starting pay for this position is $15.00 - $16.00 per hour, depending on qualifications. The position is not eligible for employee benefits.
